Hans Bunde was a Danish silversmith celebrated for his sculptural approach to silverware design. His artistic legacy includes a wide range of tableware, vases, and decorative objects, primarily crafted during his time as the lead designer at Carl M. Cohr Silver in the 1950s.
Living in the idyllic Ribe, Denmark’s oldest town, Bunde balanced family life with his artistic pursuits, shaping a style that emphasised elegance and the interplay between form and material.
Although less widely known than his contemporaries Wiwen Nilsson and Georg Jensen, Bunde’s work has left a lasting influence on Danish silverware design.
His creations, notably his simple yet refined designs, remain admired examples of Danish craftsmanship.
Among his iconic works are the wooden penguins he crafted in 1954 as gifts for his daughters, which have since been reintroduced by Architectmade.
